110K Duke Energy customers without power in the Carolinas as Debby is moving through

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) – More than 110,000 Duke Energy customers are without power across the Carolinas as Tropical Storm Debby makes it way up the east coast.
At 12:32 p.m. Duke’s outage map indicates that a significant number of outages occurring in the eastern and central regions in North Carolina, although there more than 55,000 customers without power within the Charlotte region.
The possibility of power outages was an important concern prior to Debby’s arrival. It prompted Duke to prepare and strategically assign linemen throughout both Carolinas and in other parts of the southeast.
To be prepared for outages Officials urge everyone to recharge their devices and keep working flashlights on hand and have backup batteries. In the event of an outage, freezers and refrigerators should not be opened and any downed line should be regarded as hot.

Along with the rain that is expected to fall in inches, Debby is also expected to bring winds that could reach 40 mph to Charlotte.
