Timberwolves Pick Terrence Shannon Jr. 27th overall selection in 2024 NBA Draft

Minneapolis/St. Paul Minneapolis/St. Paul Minnesota Timberwolves today announced the team has chosen guard Terrance Shannon Jr. with the 27th pick for the 2024 NBA Draft presented by State Farm.
Shannon Jr., 6-6 Shannon Jr., 6-6, was selected as a 2023-24 AP All-America Third Team selection as an incoming fifth-year senior at the University of Illinois where he was ranked third nationally in scoring (23.0 per game). After having helped Illinois to reach their initial Elite Eight since 2005, Shannon Jr. was named in the 2024 NCAA Tournament All-East Region Team. In 32 games played at Illinois during the season of 2017, Shannon Jr. averaged 23.0 points, based on 47.5 percent shot, 4.0 rebounding as well as 2.3 assists a game.
In addition, Shannon Jr. was selected for the 2023-24 NCAA All-Region Team, the 2024 Big Ten Tournament Most Outstanding Player, and broke the Illinois single-season scoring record scoring 736 points. In his two seasons with Illinois Shannon Jr., he played in the Big Ten tournament in 63 matches (61 starts) and scored 1,270 points as well as 272 rebounds and 160 assists.
Before his stint at Illinois, Shannon Jr. played three years playing at Texas Tech, playing in 83 professional games. He scored 915 points 223 rebounds, 120 assists, and 80 steals.
This was the first time in the history of the team that the Wolves were selected in into the draft as the 27th overall selection. Timberwolves center Rudy Gobert was selected with the 27th pick overall from the Denver Nuggets in 2013.
