It took almost five years, but Nate Diaz finally got his revenge over Jorge Masvidal in a professional boxing ring Saturday.

Diaz defeated Masvidal with a majority vote during their 10-round bout in a pay-per view event at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California. Three judges, including two who scored the fight, which was an intense, back-and-forth battle and a tense finish, ruled for Diaz by a score of 98-92 and 97 -93. A third judge gave it an even draw of 95-95.

The win was avenged by Diaz’s third-round TKO defeat to Masvidal in November, where the two fighters met in the UFC’s debut BMF title bout. Masvidal was victorious after a doctor decided that Diaz could not continue because of an injury; Diaz didn’t agree. Following Saturday’s victory, Diaz called for two more rematches. Jake Paul, who beat the boxer in the past as well as UFC champion Leon Edwards.

“I’m going to beat Jake Paul’s f—ing ass and I’m down to fight the highest-ranked boxer I can find,” Diaz declared. “My main objective is to be the best fighter in the world, so I want to go back and get a UFC title. [UFC welterweight champion] Leon Edwards, Jake Paul and anybody the f— else, you’re dead.”

Masvidal 39, who resigned from MMA in April, but has previously made hints of a potential return and said he was not happy with the scorecards and demanded an additional fight with Diaz.

“I thought I won,” Masvidal declared. “I thought I hit the harder shots. We can do it again, we’re 1-1. We’ll find a place and do it again.”

It was an iconic Diaz performance in which he simply dominated Masvidal with his power throughout the 175-pound bout. Masvidal was able to land tougher shots, however Diaz’s infamous chin remained well, and his speed was a weapon throughout the fight. Sometimes Diaz smiled and shook his head at Masvidal while both continued to throw punches up to the final bell.

The event was broadcast through DAZN and was promoted by Diaz’s Real Fight Inc. and Masvidal’s Gamebred Boxing. The show also featured well-known faces in the world of combat sports as well as the former UFC champion Anthony Pettis, who lost to Diaz’s former partner Chris Avila.
