In a discussion about the impressive feats achieved by female athletes on stage with her sister Venus Williams and presenter Quinta Brunson she also took an admonition at her fellow Kansas City Chiefs kicker, who has recently was criticized for his controversial remarks he made regarding women during the course of a Benedictine College commencement speech.
“Enjoy women’s sports, they’re just like other sports,” Venus spoke to the crowd and prompted Serena to join in “Except you Harrison Butker.”
She said, “We don’t need you.”
Butker was during the ceremony. But, the cameras could not record his reactions.
The jabs weren’t over there. After Venus acknowledged her love by twitching her fingers upwards, Quinta added with a grim expression, “At all. Like, ever.”
Serena wasn’t the sole celeb to voice their opinions following Butker’s obscene remarks which included telling female students to tell them that they “are most excited about your marriage and the children you will bring into this world.”
This past May Maria Shriver asked ” what point was Harrison Butker really trying to make to women in his graduation speech about their present day life choices?”
“Did he really want them, aka us, to believe that our lives truly only begin when we lean into the vocation of wife and mother?” She said on X the platform, which was formerly also known as Twitter. “Look, everyone has the right to free speech in our country. That’s the benefit of living in a democracy. But those of us who are women and who have a voice have the right to disagree with Butker.”
However, Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes admitted that Mahomes said there are “certain things that he said that I don’t necessarily agree with.”
“But I understand the person that he is,” he added, “and he is trying to do whatever he can to lead people in the right direction.”
