Kate Middleton Makes Rare Public Appearance for Wimbledon Men’s Final

Kate Middleton was on hand at Wimbledon on Sunday to watch the men’s final. It was only her second appearance on the public stage after revealing she was diagnosed with cancer.

Kate Middleton received a standing ovation as she took her seat near center court at Wimbledon Sunday for the men’s final, marking only her second public appearance since revealing her cancer diagnosis earlier this year.

This past Saturday Kensington Palace announced that the Princess of Wales — who is patron to the All-England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club, the BBC reports will be present to observe and present an award to the victor of the game that will be played between Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic.

Prior to seated herself in the Royal Box at Centre Court for the championship match, Middleton, accompanied by her daughter Princess Charlotte was able to meet the 2021 U.S. Open champion Emma Raducanu and other young British tennis stars, the Associated Pressreported in a report that added that Middleton was wearing purple since they are among the colours of the tournament.

“Great to be back at Wimbledon!,” Middletown wrote on social media, followed by photos of her during her tennis game. “There’s nothing quite like The Championships.”

Middleton’s first public appearance after her diagnosis with cancer occurred in June, when she was a part of her first Trooping the Colour ceremony in London commemorating her “official” birthday of King Charles III. The king is also fighting cancer however, she was able to recover and has returned to her duties in the public realm.

“I am making good progress, but as anyone going through chemotherapy will know, there are good days and bad days,” Middleton made clear in a statement before going at the Trooping of the Color ceremony.

“On those days when you’re tired and weak and need to let your body’s need to rest. On the other hand, on days when you feel better and more energetic, you want to maximize your time being healthy. My treatment continues and is expected to continue for the next couple of months. When I am good enough, it’s enjoyable to take part in school activities, and spend my private time doing things that bring me positive energy and energy and also to begin to work at home.”

The husband of Middleton, Prince William spent the day in Berlin to observe the Euro 2024 soccer final between England and Spain.
