White also stated that Thompson should step down from his position within Thompson’s position in the U.S. House because he proposed a bill earlier this year that seeks to strip the his Secret Service detail as a criminal conviction. The bill is currently being debated by the U.S. House Judiciary Committee.
“Bennie Thompson is an embarrassment to the state,” White said to in the Clarion Ledger on Sunday. “It was completely irresponsible when he proposed legislation to take away President Trump’s Secret Service protection. He is one of the most senior Democrats on the U.S. House Homeland Security committee, so he knows better. In my opinion he wanted to endanger President Trump’s life to score some political points. He has clearly hired and promoted nut job staffers, as one openly called for President Trump’s assassination. Thompson should resign immediately.”
The Mississippi Republican Party, which earlier requested Marsaw to resign on Saturday evening, announced on X on Sunday afternoon that Thompson should resign and also mentioning Marsaw’s job as well as the Secret Service removal bill and the Jan. 6, 2021 police investigation committee that Thompson was a member of.
Mississippi GOP Chairman Mike Hurst told the Clarion Ledger that the request came from various sources, including the fact the fact that Thompson is averse to Trump and in the January. 6-th committee’s hearings, and the lack of a response to Marsaw’s actions last night, along with other motives.
“Congressman Thompson fired the lady, thank goodness, but he still doesn’t condemn what she said,” Hurst stated. “He hasn’t condemned what anyone else has said either that continues to escalate the tension between Americans. I mean, we’ve got to have some grownups in the room, and right now, Congressman Thompson is not one of them.”
Thompson said to that the Clarion Ledger that Marsaw, at the time of writing, was no longer employed and defended his bill in reaction to those who were examining his bill.
As per the U.S. Legislature website, the legislation will only end Secret Service protection for convicted felons after sentence. Trump was found guilty in connection with 34 counts for falsifying records for business during May, during the month of May in New York, but he hasn’t been sentenced.
“My bill would not have affected the Secret Service’s presence during this tragic event,” Thompson explained. “It aims to clarify lines of authority when a protectee is sentenced to prison and is in the custody of another law enforcement agency. That does not apply to the former President.”

“Everyone needs to take a step back and look at what’s important,” Taylor explained. “The most important thing is the ballot box and fleshing issues out in a way that’s peaceful and is respectable.”
Taylor declared it unwise to make Thompson accountable in the manner White demands, particularly in light of the fact that Marsaw posted the information on her personal Facebook page without any other person’s prior knowledge.
“There is no way to control all the ideas and thought processes of all staffers,” Taylor stated. “Everyone has the right to their own personal opinions, but I trust Congressman Thompson, his leadership and his ability to handle his own office.
