Man is injured during an Ohio River barge accident

Marathon reported that the incident occurred on Tuesday, in Ohio’s South Point area of Ohio.

SOUTH POINT, Ohio (WSAZ) – A Marathon employee was injured Tuesday in a barge accident on the Ohio River near South Point, the company said in a media statement on Wednesday.

The patient was transported to a local hospital to receive treatment.

“Our thoughts are with our injured co-worker and his family, and we have been in contact with them to offer support,” the company stated in its statement. “Out of respect for our injured employee and his family’s privacy, we are unable to provide more information on his condition.”

The statement continued to state, “We are thankful to our team and to the first responders in the community for their quick and impressive actions in helping.

“The incident didn’t involve any release of any kind or environmental negative impact. We will continue to protect the security of our employees, contractors and our neighbors as well as the entire community.”

Kenova (W.Va.) The police chief of Kenova (W.Va.) Bob Sullivan tells us his department as well as his department, the Kenova as well as Ceredo firefighters, as well as Marathon’s own rescue team were on the scene to help with the incident.
