EXCLUSIVE : Ted Lasso fans, this is not a drill. In a major step toward the long-awaited fourth season of Apple TV+’s hugely popular soccer comedy, the series’ studio Warner Bros. Television has picked up the options on the three original cast members who had been contracted under the aegis of the UK acting union Equity, sources tell Deadline. They are Hannah Waddingham , who plays AFC Richmond owner Rebecca Walton, Brett Goldstein , who plays hardman Roy Kent and Jeremy Swift , who plays Director of Football Operations Leslie Higgins.
After securing the trio the studio will begin reaching out to Ted Lasso cast members who have SAG-AFTRA contracts, that have expire and they’ll need to negotiate new contracts according to reports. In addition to co-creators/executive producers Jason Sudeikis (Ted Lasso) and Brendan Hunt (Coach Beard), that is believed to include Juno Temple (Keeley Jones). We are told that one of Ted Lasso OGs, Phil Dunster (Jamie Tart) hasn’t been taken on, possibly due to conflict with another show He is also on the Prime Video’s The Devil’s Hour and Apple’s Surface.
It’s unclear who other stars could be approached regarding Season 4 but the actors have repeatedly stated that they’d be delighted to reprise their roles should there was an opportunity. Most likely, they’ll appear on the show for guest appearances.

Reuniting the cast paves the way for the possibility of a Season 4 greenlight, contingent on the approval of budgets and the scheduling of actors who have had their options canceled could have enrolled in other shows which have them in the first position, according to sources.
As contact with the actors is in progress and preparations are already being done to open the writers’ room. If all the elements are in place it is reported that the production of a fourth season is slated for an early 2025 launch. Reps from WBTV as well as Apple TV+ declined comment.
Beginning the process to get greenlighting for Season 4 greenlight indicates that the principal Ted Lasso driving the show, both on and off screen, Sudeikis, is on board for the next installment since the studio could not have made the decision without his approval.
What happens to Ted Lasso has always been a matter of Sudeikis his character, who had created his character on NBC Sports video clips. While they’re open to the possibility that they’d love to expand the Ted Lasso character which is one of the largest and most well-known comedy shows of the last 10 years, Apple and Warner Bros. executives have stated that it is entirely up to Sudeikis whether or not the show will continue.
It is believed that the Saturday Night Live alumni was the co-creator of Ted Lasso along with Hunt, Joe Kelly and Bill Lawrence, had originally thought of the show as an arc of three seasons and kept to the original plan despite the show’s massive success. However, he did not close the possibility of a second episodes of Ted Lassoand that’s the reason why season 3 was not deemed to be final, but was contingent upon coming up with the perfect concept. To Ted Lasso fans’ delight, over an entire year after the season three finale appears like this has actually occurred.
With its positive tone and its jovial perpetual optimist as the lead role, Ted Lasso was the perfect series to debut at the peak of the epidemic in August 2020. The show became a international hit and Apple’s signature and most watched original series to date.
In addition to its huge popularity, which brought it to the zeitgeist of pop culture, Ted Lasso has won thirteen Emmy Awards during its original three-season run, which included two consecutive Outstanding Comedy Series trophies and acting awards from Sudeikis (2), Goldstein (2) who also acts as a writer-producer for the series, as well as Waddingham.
This May’s Season 3 finale saw Keeley and Rebecca possibly forming a partnership in a new venture called AFC Richmond Women’s Team, and the entire cast having a happy ending including Ted who last saw coaching his son on an soccer field in Kansas.
