It may not have been the prettiest of wins, but Alabama football pulled away for a 42-16 victory over South Florida on Saturday night.
The game was not played in a dominant style like the previous week’s opening game, a 63-0 victory against. Western Kentucky, but it was the 4th-ranked Crimson Tide‘s first victory on Saban Field at Bryant-Denny Stadium. The legendary coach Nick Saban was honored pregame and at halftime, with an ceremony to unveil the field that was named in his memory.
The Alabama offense was unable to get things moving with South Florida’s defense. South Florida defense, finishing with 393 yards of offensive yardage as compared to 600 yards vs. WKU. Jalen Milroe scored Alabama’s opening two touchdowns using his legs as he connected to Kobe Prentice for a 16-yard score in the second period and an impressive 43-yard touchdown pass towards Ryan Williams. Jam Miller broke through the right side to score an impressive 56-yard touchdown. Justice Haynes iced it with another score in the final seconds.

Jam Miller broke through for an impressive 56-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter, and extended the lead of Alabama to 34-16 with just 2:30 left in the game.

Milroe was able to connect with Ryan Williams for a 43-yard touchdown during the 4th quarter. Alabama is now leading 28-16.
South Florida field goal
An 22 yard Cannon field goal put Cannon’s Bulls to the scoreboard in the 4th quarter. The field position of USF was set due to the Justin Jefferson targeting penalty, which disqualified him for the rest time. Alabama has a 21-16 lead with just 6:45 remaining in the game.

Jalen Milroe spotted an open Kobe Prentice on 3rd & 6 for a 16-yard touchdown catch. Alabama has a 21-13 lead with a little over 10 minutes remaining in the game.

At the close in the 3rd Quarter Alabama leads 14-13, Alabama’s Crimson Tide playing not scoring throughout the quarter.
South Florida 3-yard rushing touchdown
Ta’Ron Keith rushed the ball three yards up the middle to score Ta’Ron Keith’s three-yard run for the Bulls initial touchdown for the game. USF initially planned two points however a faulty start on the offensive line led to the Bulls make a decision to go with the point-after try. Alabama is now leading 14-13 with 9:35 remaining.

Jalen Milroe’s rushing touchdown
Milroe ran the ball into from a distance of five yards for his second touchdown rushing of the game. The touchdown was the highlight of an 11-play 75 yard Alabama drive. Alabama leads 14-6 at just 3:38 left in the 2nd quarter.
South Florida 25-yard field goal
Cannon also scored a 25 yard South Florida field goal to lead by one at 9:45 in the second half.
