CENTENNIAL, Colo. — Colorado Air National Guard F-16C Vipers will fly over Colorado communities in honor of our nation’s independence July 4, 2024.

The sight and sound of Vipers soaring overhead will serve as a powerful reminder of our nation’s strength and independence.

The scheduled flyovers will honor the legacy of those who have served in defense of our country and celebrate the freedoms we enjoy.

“Our nation’s independence is again celebrated by the triumphant ‘sound of freedom’ from the mighty F-16 Viper,” 140th Wing Commander U.S. Air Force Col. Jeremiah “Weed” Tucker said. “These flyovers are symbolic of the ever-vigilant defense provided by the Colorado Air National Guard. We’re reminded of this as our aircraft thunder through the skies of Colorado as watchful guardians and defenders of state and nation.”

The 140th Wing will launch the jets from Buckley Space Force Base, Aurora, Colorado, around 10:30 a.m. and fly until 12:00 p.m.

On Thursday, July 4, the 140th Wing will perform flyovers at the following event sites:

– Independence Day Weekend Celebration, Lake City, 10:45 a.m.

– Silverton 150 Year Celebration, Silverton, 10:50 a.m.

Event coordinators from these locations receiving flyovers requested support from the U.S. Air Force’s Aerial Events Office in Washington, D.C. Flyover times are coordinated with event staff and are conducted at no additional cost to the taxpayer. They serve as training for our pilots.
