Game Overview
Sao Paulo in Brazil hosts the very first NFC game in the 2024 season with two teams that are focused on the possibility of a playoff run. A rare, Friday-night fixture is expected to be an intense one. both Philadelphia (seventh) as well as Green Bay (ninth) place within the top 10 of the PFF’s Power Rankings and both effectively begin 2024 with a road trip.
Jordan Love’s Packers begin the season with momentum following a stellar stretch through 2023 that saw the team win their first postseason game in the Love era, edging out the Cowboys in Dallas 48-32. Green Bay has seemingly found another star player in Love who topped his team in PFF scoring (89.1) since Week 7 to the point of.
Although Love’s weapons might not be able to leap off the page but he can elevate the game around him. This is a positive sign for the latest player to join the offense playing back Josh Jacobs, who’s presence is sure to help in opening up coverages in the event that he is able to get back to his 2022 performance which resulted in the league’s highest 91.9 PFF the rushing score.
However the Eagles are seeking to bring the ship back into shape after a slump in their performance last season. Despite their disappointing final season the general manager Howie Roseman has been working in the offseason to fill the holes on this team. The heist of a former teammate Saquon Barkley in order to highlight this backfield, as well as the deal for Jahan Dotson to strengthen an already lethal receiving corps are the main highlights of his offseason moves.
The additions didn’t end with the offense, however. Roseman was also looking to fill in the gaps in his secondary draft, securing cornerback Quinyon Mitchell in the first round. However, the sexiest part of the Philly defense is anchored by a ferocious pass rush which is led by second-year interior rusher Jalen Carter and former Jets edge rusher who broke out Bryce Huff.
WR A.J. Brown , Philadelphia Eagles : Over 5.5 Receptions (-124) — 0.6% PFF Greenline Edge
It’s no question that A.J. Brown is among the top receivers in the league on the outside, putting him among the best players across the spectrum of all receiving positions. Brown is also the quarterback Jalen Hurts most sought-after target, and he has a significant work load because of it. In the last season, Brown saw eight or more targets in 13 of his 16 games that allowed him to exceed the mark 11 times.
The All-Pro receiver isn’t just a target beast in this offensive — having a the threat rate being nearly 7 percentage points higher than the average Eagle -and he is also regarded with the NFL’s most effective receivers all-around, and particularly in the late phases of downs, where his ranking was 5th among the NFL.
Brown is one of the toughest receivers and is able to make the contested grabs at a remarkable rate. He put 14 grabs that were contested, the 10th highest number at his position.
When Hurts discovers Brown the good times begin.
QB Jalen Hurts , Philadelphia Eagles : Under 37.5 Rushing Yards (-117) — 1.3% PFF Greenline Edge
It might seem strange to reduce a dual threat quarterback’s total rushing in particular for a player with the same talent such as Jalen Hurts but the line is a little too high and the numbers appear to prove this.
Despite making more than 150 attempts in the last season, and earning an 76.7 PFF rushing score, Hurts managed to surpass the rushing yards total in just the four games he played. More than 26 percent of his runs came from quarterback sneaks.
In addition, Saquon Barkley could take on a large portion of the ground work and will likely do so at the expense of some of Hurts planned runsand it’s harder to envision Hurts surpassing this mark.
