DJ Cassidy and the Democrats played tracks specifically in each of the states and territories at the roll call on Tuesday night.

What song or, in certain cases, have influenced your state? We’ve found them all, so that you don’t have to decide. We’ll even give some of the reasons for each.
Alabama: Sweet Home Alabama – Lynyrd Skynyrd
Although Lynyrd Skynyrd’s song to Alabama may seem like a good selection, the band created at Jacksonville, Fla.
Alaska: Feel It Still – Portugal. The Man
The group hails originated in Wasilla, Alaska, where two of its members got together in high school, and they began playing music with each other.
American Samoa: Edge of Glory – Lady Gaga
The choice of song is a joking reference to the position of the territory as the most southernmost of the United States.
Arizona: Edge of Seventeen – Stevie Nicks
The singer-songwriter Stevie Nicks, known for her solo work as well as her involvement with the band Fleetwood Mac, is from Phoenix.
Arkansas: Don’t Stop – Fleetwood Mac
In the context of Nicks her band, the track of “Don’t Stop” became the official tune of Bill Clinton’s 1992 presidential campaign and the group even teamed up for a performance at the former president’s official ball. Clinton is a well-known figure from Hope, Arkansas, and was governor of the state from 1979 until 1981 and from 1983 to 1992.

California The Next Episode — Dr. Dre, featuring Snoop Dogg,
California Love – Tupac Shakur, featuring Dr. Dre, Alright – Kendrick Lamar, Not Like Us – Kendrick Lamar
Most of the above musicians are renowned California musicians With Dr. Dre and Kendrick Lamar being born in Compton and Snoop Dog was born at Long Beach. The only exception is that Tupac is not as one of the native Californians as he was born at New York City.
Colorado: September – Earth, Wind & Fire
Philip James Bailey, one of the two lead singers in Earth, Wind & Fire was a native of Denver. He also turned towards Denver East High School friends Larry Dunn and Andrew Woolfolk to help the group after the departure of some of the original members in the words of Colorado Music Hall of Fame.
Connecticut: Signed, Sealed, Delivered (I’m Yours) – Stevie Wonder
This is “kind of a perfect campaign song,” according to Chris Willman, the chief music critic at Variety, notes on Morning Edition. Wonder originates from Michigan however it did not hinder Barack Obama from making “Signed, Sealed, Delivered” one of the most popular songs he used during both of his presidential campaign.
Delaware: Higher Love – Kygo & Whitney Houston
The song Higher Love is a recurring theme of Biden’s presidential campaign, with the song being played during his speech to the 2020 voters.

Democrats out of the country:Love Train – The O’Jays
Trains? Travel? Abroad? Sure, why not.
Washington, D.C.: Let Me Clear My Throat – DJ Kool
The renowned hip-hop artist was raised and born in the capital city.
Florida: I Won’t Back Down – Tom Petty
Tom Petty was born in Gainesville, Florida. The song he sang “American Girl” was also employed by the Clinton campaign of Hillary Clinton.
Georgia: Turn Down For What – DJ Snake and Lil Jon
Lil Jon made a surprise appearance at a convention to show his support in support of Kamala Harris. The rapper hails from Atlanta as is DJ Snake, his counterpart on the track is from Paris.

Guam: Espresso – Sabrina Carpenter
The summer-time hit that has more than one billion stream on Spotify it is among many songs that could be selected because of their popularityand it’s not surprising that they did. The month of June saw Carpenter was the only artist after the time of The Beatles to have two songs that debut in the top three spots of the Billboard Hot 100.
Hawai’i: 24K Magic – Bruno Mars
R&B and funk singer Mars comes from Honolulu Hawai’i, Honolulu.
Idaho: Private Idaho – The B-52’s
“Private Idaho” was a single from the Georgia group’s second album although they didn’t stage an event within the State of Idaho until the year 2011.
Illinois: Sirius – The Alan Parsons Project
“Sirius” was the walk-on music choice for Chicago’s NBA team called the Bulls.
Indiana – Don’t Stop ’til You Get Enough – Michael Jackson
Jackson was born in Gary, Ind. — eighth of ten children.
Iowa: Celebration – Kool & The Gang
A classic anthem for parties, Kool & The Gang originate originally from New Jersey. While they were there, Iowa passed on their local heroes of the group Slipknot.
Kansas: Carry On Wayward Son – Kansas
The group Kansas was founded in the state of Kansas in 1973 and hails from the state’s capital city, Topeka.
Kentucky: First Class – Jack Harlow
The rapper and singer Harlow is born in Louisville, Ky., and was raised in Shelbyville.
Louisiana: All I Do Is Win – DJ Khaled
Producer and rapper DJ Khaled is from New Orleans.
Maine: Shut Up and Dance – WALK THE MOON
The song is adored by all who hear it even though the state borrowed it from an Cincinnati, Ohio, band.
Maryland: Respect – Aretha Franklin
An anthem performed by Queen of Soulhaving the roots of Tennessee and Michigan can be the most compelling reason anyone could think of to pass the anthem to Billie Holiday, Toni Braxton and David Byrne, who are among the many talents that have Maryland connections.
Massachusetts: I’m Shipping Up to Boston – Dropkick Murphys
The American Celtic band was formed in Quincy, Mass. The lyrics describe the story of a seaman who has lost his leg who travels to Boston to find an artificial leg made of wood.
Michigan: Lose Yourself – Eminem
The rap star was famously raised within Detroit as well as his 2002 film 8 Mileis is set within Detroit. Motor City.
Minnesota: Kiss – Prince & The Revolution, 1999 – Prince & The Revolution
The renowned artist came from Minneapolis, Minn., in the year 1958. The musician also passed away in his home in the state of Minnesota of Paisley Park in 2016 at the age of 57.
Mississippi: Twistin’ the Night Away – Sam Cooke
A cult and influential soul artists ever, Cooke was born in Clarksdale, Miss.
Missouri: Good Luck, Babe! – Chappell Roan
The 26-year-old singer from Willard, Mo., has seen herself climbing the ranks to fame following the announcement of her 2023 album “The Rise and The Fall of the Midwest princess.
Montana: American Woman – Lenny Kravitz
A few of the tracks remaining in the DNC list of songs for the DNC roll call tend towards continuing the party without any obvious connections between the tracks or the states they’re in. These songs are on point to build momentum in the direction of getting a woman into the White House.
Nebraska: Firework – Katy Perry
Fireworks bring to mind the traditional American celebration of the Fourth of July. It’s a bit odd, but this selection is logical, even though we’ve yet to find any connection between pop singer Perry with the nation of Nebraska.
Nevada: Mr. Brightside – The Killers
The group was began the band in Las Vegas in 2001 by Brandon Flowers and Dave Keuning.
New Hampshire: Don’t Stop Believin’ – Journey
The classic “keep on truckin'” tune for a political party intent on reviving its voter base.
New Jersey: Born in the U.S.A. – Bruce Springsteen
“The Boss” is famously from Long Branch, N.J.
New Mexico: Confident – Demi Lovato
Singer-songwriter and singer was raised in Albuquerque, N.M.
New York: Empire State of Mind – Jay-Z featuring Alicia Keys
The song is an song of love for New York City by the two artists who hail both from Brooklyn and Manhattan and Manhattan, respectively.
North Carolina: Raise Up – Petey Pablo
The record producer and rapper comes located in Greenville, N.C.
North Dakota: Girl on Fire – Alicia Keys
Another feminist anthem that celebrates the strength and determination of women. This track.
Northern Mariana Islands: Ain’t No Mountain High Enough – Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell
Harris climbs the metaphorical hilland shattering the glass ceilings like Hillary Clinton reminded us on the night of 1.
Ohio “Green Light Ohio: Green Light John Legend featuring Andre 3000
Legend began in Springfield, Ohio, while Andre 3000 hails from Atlanta.
Oklahoma: Garth Brooks – Ain’t Goin’ Down (’til the Sun Comes Up)
Country singer Brooks comes from Tulsa.
Oregon: Float On – Modest Mouse
The group was founded at Issaquah, Wash., in 1993. It it is now based in Portland, Ore.
Pennsylvania: Motownphilly – Boyz II Men, Black and Yellow – Wiz Khalifa
The vocal Group Boyz II Men is from Philadelphia and the music video of “Motownphilly” filmed across locations in their hometown city. Wiz Khalifa’s “Black and Yellow” is about growing within Pittsburgh, Pa. The colors are a tribute to the city’s NFL team called the Steelers.
In the 2011 Super Bowl match-up against the Green Bay Packers, the team used the track for their theme song. their opponents were using an original remix of “Green and Yellow,” as their own.
Puerto Rico: Despacito – Luis Fonsi featuring Daddy Yankee
The duo of Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee are both from San Juan, Puerto Rico. Remixes of their smash track that featured Justin Bieber was released in 2017.
Rhode Island: Shake it Off – Taylor Swift
Swift is the owner of the most expensive residence within the State of Rhode Island — an entire estate known as High Watch, which she bought in 2013.
South Carolina: Get Up I Feel Like Being A Sex Machine – James Brown
James Brown was born on May 3, 1933 located in Barnswell, S.C.
South Dakota: What I Like About You – The Romantics
I’m guessing that South Dakota is stoked about their candidate, who’s uttering “all the things that I wanna hear.”
Tennessee: 9 to 5 – Dolly Parton
Country music superstar Dolly Parton was born in Pittman Center, Tenn. She lives in Nashville, near Nashville. Her Dollywood theme park and resort is located at Pigeon Forge.
Texas: TEXAS HOLD EM’ – Beyonce
This one’s pretty self-explanatory.

The 27-year old is born in Stratfford, Vt.
Virgin Islands: VI to the Bone – Mic Love
The rapper originates from the Virgin Islands.
Virginia the Way I Are The Way I Am Timbaland including Keri Hilson, D.O.E.
Timbaland originates originally from Norfolk, Va., and Keri Hilson hails located in Decatur, Georgia, and D.O.E. comes originally from New York.
Washington: Can’t Hold Us – Macklemore and Ryan Lewis
The rapper hails located in Kent, Wash., while Ryan Lewis is from Spokane.
West Virginia: Take Me Home, Country Roads – John Denver
Although Denver originates originally from New Mexico, his hit song focuses on the natural beautiful landscape in West Virginia, including the Blue Ridge Mountains and the Shenandoah River.
Wisconsin: Jump Around – House of Pain
The 1992 smash is played in University of Wisconsin home football games, where fans and students dance and cheer, making it an iconic symbol of the state’s premier university.
Wyoming: I Gotta Feeling – Black Eyed Peas
A classic party staple to end the roll call. While not forgetting how the party backing their newly-appointed candidate. It seems like they’ve got confidence in her.
