Jennie Garth Remembers Shannen Doherty as “One of the Strongest People I Have Ever Known”
Jennie Garth was among Shannen Doherty’s former co-stars who offered their respects to the actress on Sunday, after the news broke about her death.

Jennie Garth was one of Shannen Doherty ‘s many former co-stars who paid tribute to the actress Sunday after news broke of her death.
Garth uploaded an image of of them together a few years ago. It appears to have been likely taken during the time they were on the same show, Beverly Hills, 90210, in the 1990s or at around the time.
Alongside the photo, Garth wrote: “I am still dealing with my immense sadness over the loss of my beloved friend Shannen whom I’ve often said was one of the most powerful people I’ve ever met. Our friendship was genuine and sincere.”
Garth also spoke of reports of tensions on set with Doherty She also has discussed in the past. She also admitted in the year 2019 on “Watch What Happens Live” Andy Cohen that they were in a heated fight at one point in which both “took it outside” over something “so stupid.” But the fight never escalated into a physical confrontation and the two mended their ways and remained close friends.
“We were so often pitted against each other, but none of that reflected the truth of our real relationship, which was one built on mutual respect and admiration,” Garth wrote. “She was brave committed, passionate, and very generous and loving. I will be missing her and will forever cherish her within my soul and my thoughts. My heart aches for her family, Bowie and all those whom she loved. “
The last phrase was an ode to the dog of Doherty, Bowie, who was part of the group with the actress at the time she passed away.
Doherty passed away on Saturday at the age of 53 following a lengthy struggle with cancer.
Other co-stars who paid tribute to Doherty included Jason Priestley, Gabrielle Carteris, Carol Potter and Brian Austin Green (all from Beverly Hills, 90210) and Alyssa Milano (Charmed).
