Love Island’s Molly-Mae Hague Is ‘Extremely Upset’ as She Ends Engagement with Tommy Fury After 5 Years Together
One of Love Island U.K.’s most beloved couples has called it quits.
On Aug. 14, Molly-Mae Hague announced that she and Tommy Fury had ended their relationship, just weeks after they celebrated the one-year anniversary of their engagement.
In a statement posted on her Instagram Stories, Hague, 25, asked for “privacy” during “this difficult time” as she shared the news.
“Never in a million years did I think I’d ever have to write this,” her statement began. “After five years of being together I never imagined our story would end, especially not this way. I am extremely upset to announce that mine and Tommy’s relationship has come to an end.”
“I will forever be grateful for the most important thing to me now and always, my beautiful daughter,” Hague wrote of Bambi, who the couple welcomed in January 2023. “Without us there would be no her, she will always be my priority.”
Hague concluded the statement by thanking fans for “the love you have shown us over the last five years” since they met on season 5 of Love Island.
“You have all been a part of our journey and I feel it’s right to share this with you all. Whilst I attempt to navigate the coming days and weeks please kindly respect my privacy over this difficult time, I’ll be back when it feels right.”
Fury, 25, shared his own statement an hour later, writing, “I am heartbroken to share that Molly & I have decided to end our relationship. The past 5 years have led us to having our beautiful baby girl Bambi & I will be forever thankful to Molly for making me a dad. Bambi is our priority.”
The professional boxer similarly asked for “privacy” for him and his family “as we navigate our way through this difficult time.”
Last month, the former couple celebrated both the one-year anniversary of Fury’s surprise proposal – he convinced her she was going on a fake brand trip, only to pop the question in a beautiful set-up in Ibiza – and the five-year anniversary of their relationship.
Hague and Fury met on season 5 of Love Island U.K. in 2019 and ended up as the season’s runner-ups. The speeches they made for each other on the season finale are beloved amongst fans, and Hague’s quote, “I can’t wait for the adventures that we haven’t even dreamed of yet,” ended up as a neon sign hung in the couple’s house.
They also referenced it in the caption of their Instagram post announcing Hague’s pregnancy in September 2022.
