One day after his death, family members are seeking answers to any questions they may have regarding his death.
Imani’s family members say Imani is “the man” – someone who was devoted to his family and in the community around him.
“He was the protector and provider of the family,” Hune’e Jones said at the candlelight vigil held in the evening of Aug. 11.
Jazmine Jackson is his daughter. She said he had a profound impact on the lives of many the man touched.
“My classmates from middle school still remember my dad. They all said they looked at his father as an idol, because it was … since they did not have a father.”
She’s been separated from her father.

“The owner of the vehicle didn’t adhere to the rules, and he got out of his car and drove eastbound along Buckeye Road. Officers pursued him, giving instructions. Phoenix Police provide update on the overnight shooting
Imani’s family says they were informed about the shooting after the shooter didn’t show up at home in time.
“My mom was the one driving around looking for my dad because he said that he was supposed to be home in about 30 minutes to an hour, and she got worried,” Jazmine told me. “She got this feeling in her stomach and she was like, ‘Something’s not right.'”
Then, her mother walked on an area where the shooter was killed.
“She observed his car here parked and then she saw a person lying there. He was wearing these pants we gave him to celebrate Father’s Day and a black shirt, and lay there in a state of utter relaxation,” Jazmine said.
Surveillance footage shows Imani walking away with his hands raised however, he then walks away from the camera. Two officers can be seen running off in the direction of Imani.
“I only want the bodycam footage. I’d like to know if he carried an armed person on his property since what I have seen from the video from the store was that he had an iPhone in his pocket,” she said.
The family in mourning is faced with a lot of questions after the loss of their patriarch of their family.
“I wanted to stay optimistic, however I’m going to be honest. It’s not a great situation. He has always said “I hope I don’t die at the hands of the police,'” Hune’e declared.
