Sky rookie Angel Reese’s year is ended with a wrist injuries
Angel Reese, whose historic rookie season saw her lead in the WNBA in double-doubles, is out for the remainder of the season due to an injury to her wrist.

Angel Reese ‘s sensational rookie campaign for the Chicago Sky has ended because of a season-ending wrist injury suffered Friday against the Los Angeles Sparks .
“What a year,” Reese posted on social media on Saturday. “I had no idea that the final bucket from my debut season could be a 3, but maybe it was God telling me to that they should give them a taste of what they’ll be seeing more of in the coming year. lol.
“I’m overwhelmed with feelings right now because I’m dealing with a season-ending injury, but also with happiness for what’s to come. While this is the timing of God and not my own I’m finally capable of giving myself an emotional and physical break. God gives the most difficult fights to his best troops.'”
Reese, the No. 7 selection in the 2024 draft and the star national champion from LSU was a standout during her first year with the WNBA. She scored 26 double-doubles, the second-highest total in a year in WNBA history. She also in the summer of this year, she broke an WNBA record by having fifteen consecutive double-doubles.
Reese’s averages from the final season comprised of 13.6 per game, 13.1 rebounds and 1.3 steals per game.
Reese’s outstanding performance led to her being selected as an All-Star in which she as well as Caitlin Clark who is her main rival from college and contender for the Rookie of the Year contest -were the first rookies to be selected for the All-Star team in the past since 2014. Reese became Chicago’s fourth rookie All-Star and was the first to be selected since 2013.
As the Sky’s team prepares to play on Sunday in the Dallas Wings’ game Dallas Wings, Reese was first in the injury report as a possible injury.
Prior to the draft, talent evaluations were not sure how Reese’s skills would be able to adapt to professional sports however her speed and rebounding was evident at an even higher level, in an unprecedented way. The player became only the second to ever record twenty or more rebound in a row and do it in three consecutive. The 446 rebounds she scored across 34 games is the highest of the season in WNBA history. Her rebounding rate is expected to be the top for a single season.
Reese’s fame and prominence in pop culture has helped create an influx of new fans to the WNBA also. In addition to racking up 4.3 million users of TikTok along with 4.1 million followers on Instagram She also attended at the Met Gala, joined rapper Megan Thee Stallion on stage during her performance in Chicago and appeared on a video along with the rappers Cardi B and Latto. Her dominance on the court and off-court savvy drew the interest of the Sky who also signed her fellow frontcourt rookie Kamilla Cardoso from South Carolina.
“Through it all, I have showed that I belong in this league even when no one else believed,” Reese wrote in her blog post. “All I have ever wanted was to come into the W and make an impact. I can confidently say I have done that and will strive to keep doing so.”
Reese said she will be a part of Unrivaled which is a 3×3 league that was co-founded by Breanna Stewart and Napheesa Collier which is set to launch in January.
