Team USA continues to prepare to try for the fifth consecutive gold medal in basketball for men in the run-up to the 2024 Olympics in Paris.
On Saturday, Team USA defeated South Sudan in a 101-100 game at London in the opening of two exhibition games played at the O2 Arena. LeBron James his layup with just eight seconds remaining sealed the game. Team USA was down by 14 points at the half. Carlik Jones had a triple-double for South Sudan (15 points, 11 rebounds, and 11 assists) with a blistering performance. He missed a shot with just only four seconds left, which would have sealed the victory.
Team USA will take on Germany on Monday, before departing to France.
The U.S. has already defeated other Olympic teams as they prepare for Paris. The team defeated Serbia as well as Australia in two games played at Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. The two games came after a victory against Canada at Las Vegas on July 10.
In the Olympics, Team USA will take part in the three groups of C matches in Lille on the 28th of July (Serbia) as well as the 31st of July (South Sudan) and August. 3. (Puerto Rico). The knockout stages will then move towards Paris in the semifinals (Aug. 6,) and semifinals (Aug. 8.) and the gold medal match (Aug. 10.) at the Accor Arena.
