Texas singer BeatKing dies aged 39 of an embolism in the lungs.

BeatKing was a staple of the Houston club scene since the beginning of 2010 with hits such as “Crush.”

A well-known Houston rapper BeatKing, the Houston-based rapper who’s real name was Justin Riley, died Thursday at the age of 39.

His long-time manager Tasha Fielder, posted about his passing via Instagram.

Who is BeatKing?

If you’ve been to an Hip-Hop nightclub located in Houston or Dallas or even listening to the local radio station, BeatKing was likely to be playing on your radio.

Beatking is a staple in the Houston club scene since the beginning of 2010 when he debuted his tracks “King of the Club,” “Club God 3,” “Gangsta Stripper Music,” Travis Scott’s “Astroworld,” “Twerk It for Vine.”

BeatKing made a huge radio hit and club classic following the debut of “Crush” in the summer of 2010 off his debut album “Kings of the Club” in 2011. BeatKing was also famous for his hits “Then Leave” with Queendom Come in 2020, and Erica Banks’ 2022 single “Toot That” with DreamDoll.

Famous for his bold lyrics “crushing” the club, massive basslines and his knack of keeping the energy of a club high, he’s collaborated with musicians like Ludacris, Juicy J, DJ Chose, Paul Wall Slim Thug, Project Pat, and more. Beatking released his new album ” She Won’t Leave Houston,” in July of last year.

What was the fate of BeatKing?

In an email sent to USA TODAY, Fielder said the singer had snorted in his talk show.

“He was at an Urban One (Radio One) station doing a morning takeover when he suddenly fainted,” Felder wrote. “He was taken to a near by (sic) hospital where he later passed away. His daughters were with him the entire time. It is truly sad, we loved him so much.”

Felder confirmed BeatKing’s death Thursday of a pulmonary embolism.

What is an embolism in the pulmonary tract?
