The former All-Star Guard Kemba Walker announces his retirement

Kemba Walker scored 12,009 points with the Hornets to set the team’s all-time mark.
Kemba Walker is the most prolific scoring player for the Charlotte Hornets history and a four-time all-star in the course of his twelve NBA seasons Kemba Walker announced his retirement from basketball on Tuesday.
Walker was a player for AS Monaco of the Euroleague this season, played eight seasons playing for the Charlotte Bobcats/Hornets (2011-19), two seasons with the Boston Celtics (2019-21) and one season as a member of the New York Knicks (2021-22) and Dallas Mavericks (2022-23) in his NBA career.
In his post on social media, Walker wrote: “Basketball has been more helpful to me than I could have ever thought of, and I am incredibly grateful for the wonderful journey that I’ve been on. So, I’m here to tell you that I’m officially retiring from basketball.
“This was a goal I had in my mind for a long time. Looking back, I can’t believe what I accomplished during my professional career.”

The 6-footer was Three-time NBA All-Star in Charlotte, and later in his debut campaign playing in Boston during the 2019-2020 season. However, the 33-year-old Walker has been absent for significant periods due to knee problems, such as playing in 37 games with New York in 2021-22 and only nine games for Dallas in the previous season.
Walker will retire as the Hornets leading scorer. He ranks among the team’s third-best three players in games played in steals, assists and assists while being the team’s record holder for attempts at 3-pointers, made and attempted field goals scored and attempted, and free throws attempted and made.
He scored 19.3 points over his 12 year NBA career. This was followed by an outstanding academic career in college at UConn where the school won the national championship in 2011 and was named the best player in this year’s Final Four that year.
Walker played the majority of the season that was affected by pandemics The final of five seasons in which he scored at least 20 points per game.
