WNBA Star Brittney Griner and Wife Cherelle Welcome First Child Together

The athlete who was freed from an Russian prison in the latter part of 2022, will take part in the Summer Olympics in Paris.

The WNBA superstar Brittney Griner and her wife Cherelle Griner are expecting the birth of a son.

Brittney Griner made the announcement in an appearance during an appearance on CBS Sports show We Need to Talk. The 33-year-old sports star who was the subject of headlines in 2022 after she was detained in Russia for possession of cannabis and revealed the news that their son was born on in July. The couple previously announced that they would name the baby Bash.

“He is amazing,” Griner said to “We Need To Talk”. “They say as soon as you see him, everything that you thought mattered just goes out the window, and that’s literally what happens.”

The player plays center for the NBA’s Phoenix Mercury, is set to be a part of the U.S. women’s national basketball team this summer in the Paris Olympics. Griner has previously claimed gold for the team at both the 2020 and 2016 Olympic Games.

“It kind of sucks because I’ve got to leave, but at the same time, he’ll understand,” Griner added, pointing out that she was planning to let the child text”Pops” to her “Pops.” Griner added, “My whole phone is turned into him now. “

Cherelle Griner had been sharing photos to Instagram during her pregnancy. “Can’t believe we’re less than three months away from meeting our favorite human being,” she posted in April, adding the hashtag #BabyGrinerComingSoon. The couple was married in June, 2019.

Brittney Griner was freed in the month of December 2022 from an Russian jail as part of the prisoner swap after her detention in the month of February that year, on charges of drug abuse. The Hollywood Reporter announced on December 1st the news that her Russian detention was to become the basis for an ESPN documentary and possibly a scripted series by ABC Signature.
